Youngstown Cardinal Mooney, which dominated teams with outstanding pitching and a powerful offense all season, tops the final mahoningmatters.com Super 7 high school baseball poll.

Here’s a look at the final rankings:

No. 1 CARDINAL MOONEY

Youngstown Cardinal Mooney, which advanced to the Division IV state tournament, is the No. 1 team in the final rankings.

The Cardinals enjoyed a special season to remember as they compiled a 24-4 record and defeated their opponents by an average of five runs per game.

Mooney was a state semifinalist after dropping a 12-7 decision to Sandusky Perkins in last week’s Division IV state tournament in Akron. Perkins went on to win the state championship with a 5-1 triumph over Bishop Fenwick.

No. 2 POLAND

The Poland Bulldogs, who captured the Northeast 8 Conference title this spring, finished second in the final ratings.

The Bulldogs won 13 of their last 17 games of the season and won sectional and district championships. Poland blanked the Crestview Rebels 14-0 to capture their Division V district title.

The Bulldogs ended the campaign with a record of 19-7.

No. 3 LAKEVIEW

Lakeview, which was a Division V power, earned the No. 3 spot in the poll.

The Bulldogs captured triumphs in 10 of its last 12 games and won a district championship when it doubled up the Triway Titans 6-3.

Lakeview’s final record was 20-8.

No. 4 LaBRAE

LaBrae, which was a Division V regional qualifier, ended No. 4 in the rankings.

The Vikings won a district title with an 8-3 verdict over the Springfield Tigers and was eliminated in the regional in a 9-6 setback to Lake Center Christian, which went on to win the Division VI state championship last weekend in Akron.

LaBrae’s final record was 20-6.

No. 5 CANFIELD

The Canfield Cardinals finished in the No. 5 spot in the poll.

The Cards captured wins in 14 of their last 15 games and were edged 5-4 in a D3 district championship battle to University School.

The Cardinals compiled a final record of 21-8.

No. 6 MAPLEWOOD

Maplewood, which won a Division VII district title, ends No. 6 in the poll.

The Rockets defeated Andrews Osborne Academy to capture a D7 district championship.

Maplewood ended the campaign with a ledger of 17-10-1.

No. 7 McDONALD

The McDonald Blue Devils finished No. 7 in the final poll.

The Blue Devils were champions of the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Scarlet Tier and advanced to the Division VII district championship.

McDonald concluded the season at 17-6.
