Flash in the Night Run guides participants through the dark at Canfield Fairgrounds

Running in the dark will be made easier at the Canfield Fairgrounds on Wednesday, July 8.

Flash in the Night Run, presented by GCXC Racing Youngstown, will take participants through the fairgrounds using its paved roads, illuminated by luminaries and streetlights.

Those interested can choose between the Firefly 1-Mile Run/Walk or the Flash 5K Run/Walk, whether in person or virtually. The races begin at 8:15 p.m. EDT and 8:45 p.m. EDT, respectively, and participants can pick up their race-day packet starting at 7 p.m. at the Cattle Arena located inside the fairgrounds.

The top three overall men and women will receive 1-Mile awards, and the 5K awards will be given similarly within age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and up.

Registration can be found here and includes a shirt, a finisher medal and a custom bib. Pricing for the Firefly 1-Mile Run/Walk is currently set at $25, and the Flash 5K Run/Walk costs $30. The amounts will increase after June 30 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
