Birdfish collaborates with Red Rican, American 250 Columbiana on brews

The community is getting ready to taste-test Red Rican’s first-ever craft beer, brewed with Birdfish Brewing Co. in Columbiana.

It’s a lime beer dubbed the Borikén Brew, according to a video announcement on Red Rican’s social media featuring co-owner Jonathan Morales.

To celebrate the small-batch light lime beer, community members are invited to the first public pour of Borikén Brew beginning at noon on July 18 at Birdfish Brewing.

Commemorative glasses will be available while supplies last.

The Mahoning Valley Latin Orchestra will be performing from 2-5 p.m. in the ballroom during the event at Birdfish, which is free admission.

“Our Red Rican Food Truck will be here, and our dessert trailer will be here,” Morales said. “We’ll have a new tres leches cake launching specifically on that day here at Birdfish. It’s a chance to celebrate Puerto Rican culture, food, music and community while supporting two local businesses.

For Columbiana’s America 250 celebration, Birdfish Brewing Co. also released a commemorative Bird Light Lager six-pack featuring a special America 250 red, white and blue label at noon.

Packaged in partnership with America 250 Columbiana, the special edition cans are available to-go while supplies last.

“Join us as we raise a Bird Light to America’s past, present and future—and celebrate everything that makes Columbiana special,” Birdfish wrote online.

Another collaboration between Birdfish and America 250 Columbiana is a $20 limited-edition silicone pint glass with both organizations’ logos.

All proceeds from the cup sales supported local community events throughout the America 250 celebration.

Patrons also were able to use these cups as a DORA-approved glass for Freedom Fest on Main Street and Fourth of July celebration in Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park.
