Sport Clips Poland advocates for local veterans with weeklong fundraiser

Sport Clips Haircuts of Poland is welcoming the community to support local veterans throughout the week of July 19-25 for its Haircuts with Heart fundraiser.

Haircuts with Heart assists the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation’s program, Sport Clips Help a Hero Scholarship, in raising funds to provide scholarships of up to $5,000 to service members and veterans pursuing college or technical education. Last year, Sport Clips Poland raised about $3,000, and its aim this year is to achieve $6,000, according to a press release.

Events throughout the week include themes of family carnival night, heroes night, local sports night, kids day, bike night, rodeo night and a car show. On bike night, community members can witness a free live acoustic performance by Solo Sixstring from 4-6 p.m., presented by Ellis Music Events.

“Live music has a unique way of bringing people together,” said Jake Ellis, owner of Ellis Music Events, in the press release. “When we learned Sport Clips was looking for entertainment to help support a fundraiser benefiting veterans, we wanted to be part of it.”

Following the fundraiser’s conclusion on Saturday, July 25, community members can continue supporting locally by attending Ellis Music Events’ Summer of ’89 concert at Penguin City Brewing Company.

Donations can be made now inside Sport Clips Poland, located at 1320 Boardman Poland Road, and throughout the event.
