Lowellville waterfront park with new additions open for summer fun

Across the Mahoning Valley, riverfront development projects have been booming.

This summer, the leaders of the village of Lowellville and the Eastern Regional Council of Governments cut the ribbon on the Lowellville Waterfront Park.

Improvements to the park were funded through the Appalachian Community Grant Program, which included adding a canoe livery, pavilions and play facilities to the existing boat launch.

The Lowellville Firefighter’s Association is reminding anyone spending time out on the water to always wear life jackets, watch young children, swim with a buddy and be aware of water conditions.

Lowellville Waterfront Park, located at W. Water St., is open to the public daily from dawn until dusk.

On Aug. 1, head out to the park for the second annual Duck Derby featuring live music, a rubber ducky race on the Mahoning River and basket raffles with proceeds going to the Will McCaughtry Foundation.

Based in Lowellville, their mission is to expand mental health services to other school districts in the area.
