Mahoning Valley businesses continue rallying behind growing live music scene

Ellis Music Events recently announced a growing list of local business partners supporting the Summer of ‘89 Party on Saturday, July 25 at Penguin City Brewing Co., highlighting continued community investment in live entertainment and downtown Youngstown.

The announcement follows the successful launch of Ellis Music Events’ concert series earlier this year, which welcomed approximately 250 guests and sold out all VIP tables at Penguin City Brewing Co.’s new performance venue.

“One of the goals of Ellis Music Events has always been to bring together great music and great local businesses,” said Jake Ellis, owner of Ellis Music Events. “Seeing companies like Phantom Fireworks, Sport Clips, Cocca’s Pizza, and Jack Daniel’s become part of this event shows that our community believes in what we’re building. Their support helps create a better experience for everyone who walks through the doors while helping us continue to grow live entertainment in downtown Youngstown.”

Ellis said leading the way is Phantom Fireworks, serving as the event’s Official Show Sponsor. Founded in the Mahoning Valley, Phantom Fireworks joins Ellis Music Events in helping bring live music and entertainment back to downtown Youngstown.

Joining Phantom Fireworks is Sport Clips Haircuts of Poland, serving as the event’s Supporting Sponsor. Known for its commitment to veterans through its annual Help A Hero campaign, Ellis said Sport Clips continues its investment in the local community by supporting the Summer of ‘89 Party.

Local favorite Cocca’s Pizza has also partnered with Ellis Music Events as the event’s Promotional Partner, helping spread the word throughout the community and encouraging fans to experience an evening of live music at Penguin City Brewing Co.

Fans attending the event will also enjoy Jack Daniel’s Blackberry Lemonade on draft as the event’s Official Featured Cocktail, adding another unique element to the Summer of ‘89 experience.

Presented by Ellis Music Events, Summer of ‘89 will feature Say Ahh, one of the region’s premier Poison tribute bands, with special guest Steel Reserve, performing an evening of classic rock favorites celebrating the music, energy, and nostalgia of the 1980s.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with live music beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Penguin City Brewing Co., 460 E. Federal Street, Youngstown, Ohio.
