Rules and reminders for dog park in newly renovated Borts Field in Youngstown
Community members recently gathered to celebrate the reopening of Borts Field at 1930 Oakwood Ave. in Youngstown.
City leaders cut the ribbon on the upgrades to Borts Field, including a new playground, restored bathrooms, parking amenities and a dog park, made possible through relief funding from the American Rescue Plan.
“We’re really excited about it,” Mike Ray, 4th Ward Councilman, said. “When we looked at what we should do for the community, we saw we needed an outdoor space that was close to us that we could all use. We responded to community feedback.”
There’s a total of 9.73 acres at Borts Field in Youngstown.
Dogs must be registered with the City of Youngstown Parks and Recreation Department before using the dog park; call (330) 742-8711 to register.
There’s no fee to use the park, but to keep pets safe, make sure your dog’s vaccinations are up-to-date before visiting.
All dogs must be friendly, under control and non-aggressive to use the park.
