‘Something Borrowed’ author lists lavish Atlanta estate for $9 million. Take a look
A stunning Georgian Revival estate owned by best-selling author Emily Giffin has listed in Atlanta for $8.99 million.
Giffin is a romance novelist with several popular books under her belt including “Something Borrowed,” which went on to become a hit film starring Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin. Her historic five-bedroom, 4.5-plus-bathroom home reflects her charming style.
“Situated on nearly five beautifully landscaped acres, this historically significant 1920s Georgian Revival brick home was designed by one of Atlanta’s great twentieth-century architects, Philip Trammel Shutze,” the listing on Realtor.com says.
“Over the years, the property has gone through several extensive renovations to modernize the living areas and owner’s suite for today’s lifestyle (while) ... still paying homage to Atlanta’s rich history.”
It also happens to be one of the priciest houses for sale in the city, Realtor reports.
The 9,286-square-foot main home is filled with elegant amenities including:
Curved staircase
Library
Vaulted ceilings
Hand-painted kitchen floors
Private sunroom
1920s-styled bathroom
Playroom/office
The backyard is an “entertainer’s paradise” with two grills, a patio, swimming pool and a one-bedroom, two-bathroom guest house.
According to The New York Post, Giffin wrote six of her books in the home.
The estate was referred to as Giffin’s “forever home,” which she shares with husband Hartley Blaha, when renovating the home years before, Bridge for Design said.
