Sam’s Club just dropped the price on its hot dog and soda combo, waging a price war with rival Costco.

A hot dog combo from the warehouse club now costs $1.38, down from $1.50, the company announced Wednesday, Nov. 16. Costco sells the same combo for $1.50.

“New lower price. Same great hot dog & drink combo,” an advertisement on the club store’s website reads. “Frankly, it can’t be beat.”

Sam’s Club said the newer, cheaper price is here to stay and “just another way to show we care about every penny (literally)“ that members spend. On an earnings call Tuesday, the Walmart-owned club also pointed to the pinch that rising inflation is putting on shoppers’ budgets this holiday season, CNN Business reported.

“The members’ dollar [is] going further at Sam’s Club, too, with racks of lamb and lobster tails priced more than 40% lower than last year,” Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said, according to the news outlet.

Sam’s Club and competitor Costco have managed to keep their hot dogs priced cheap, despite rising food costs.

The price of “food away from home,” which includes full-service meals and snacks, is up nearly 9% compared to last year, according to the latest Consumer Price Index. The cost of hot dogs specifically surged 15% year-over-year in October, data shows.

In July, Costco hiked the price on two food court favorites but assured customers there were no plans to touch the beloved hot dog combo.

“The price today is $1.50, and we have no plans to increase the price at this time,” Costco Senior Vice President Bob Nelson said earlier this year, Nexstar Media Group reported.

The new combo pricing rolls out in Sam’s Club cafes starting Wednesday and no membership is necessary, according to the club’s website.
