These dog breeds rank as the most popular on social media. Did yours make the list?
TikTok users have watched billions of videos about dogs — and they can’t get enough of one breed.
Golden retrievers rank No. 1 on a list of the most popular breeds on social media, according to results published Thursday, Jan. 12.
“These loving family dogs are gentle and kind,” the pet education website Love Your Dog said in its report. “No wonder they’re so popular.”
So, which other pups get the most love on social media? Here are the breeds that round out the top five:
- German shepherd
- Rottweiler
- Labrador retriever
- French bulldog
Golden retrievers edged out the competition after Love Your Dog studied the American Kennel Club’s top breeds of 2022. Then, the website said it compared those results against “all existing” dog-related posts two social media platforms: TikTok and Instagram.
On TikTok, videos about golden retrievers garnered 31.4 billion views, dominating the other breeds that landed in the top 20. The hashtag #GoldenRetriever also racked up more than 33.7 million Instagram posts.
The results come after golden retrievers ranked among the five most popular breeds last year. When it comes to favorite dog names, Luna and Max topped a U.S. list, McClatchy News reported.
