A sweet puppy is on the mend at a Texas shelter after surviving a horrific ordeal.

Bandera, a terrier mix with soulful eyes and perky ears, had a cruel start to his short life. He was brought to the San Antonio Humane Society after breaking his femur in an abhorrent fashion.

“Bandera is a 4 months old puppy who was saved after being thrown from a moving vehicle on Bandera Road,” the shelter said in a Sept. 25 Facebook post. “He arrived at the SAHS with a broken femur. Thankfully the fracture was able to be medically managed and now after weeks of cage rest and physical rehabilitation he is ready for his forever home!”

Photos show Bandera’s sweet face as he chews and plays with his toys. There’s even a video of him doing water physical therapy to help him heal.

Even after all he’s been through in such a tiny amount of time, he still has a quality of his personality that no one can dim — his love.

“Bandera is VERY people loving and seeks out all of the attention whenever he can get it,” the shelter said.

For more online information about Bandera and other adoptable pets, visit the shelter’s website.
