Ohio will receive $172M to help lower utility bills, increase energy efficiency
The state of Ohio will receive $172 million from the federal Weatherization Assistance Program to help lower costs and increase energy efficiency for Ohioans.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, passed in 2021, expanded funding for the Weatherization Assistance Program to help households reduce their home energy bills through retrofit investments such as improved insulation, air sealing, lighting and appliances, a news release states.
The funding to Ohio is part of a total investment of $3.1 billion available to all states.
“The investments provided by this program will lower utility bills, create good-paying American jobs and make Ohio families’ homes safer, healthier and more energy-efficient,” U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, said in the release.
