Ohio will receive $15.8 million in federal funds to help reduce heating and cooling costs for working families.

The funds, administered under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, will be used to cut energy bills, provide crisis assistance and help weatherize homes, a news release states.

“As hardworking families grapple with rising energy prices, we must do everything in our power to lower costs while ensuring that Ohioans are safe and comfortable in their homes,” U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, said in the release.

The funding announced Tuesday is the fourth round of Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program assistance over the past year.
