Charles J. Smith

GIRARD — Charles J Smith, 94, passed away on Tuesday (Jan. 19) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Charles was born on March 19, 1926 in California, Pa., the son of Michael T. and Claudine Naomi (Robinson) Smith.
He was a graduate of Liberty High School.
After high school, Charles joined the Army and served his country during WW II. He then went to California and learned to become a magician.
He had worked at the Niles Daily Times and was a wedding photographer and magician.
Charles was a member of Church Hill United Methodist Church as well as the Akron and Youngstown magic clubs.
He enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory his sons Charles J. Smith Jr., Keith A. Smith and Michael L. Smith, all of Girard; sisters Nancy Smith and Carol Smith, both of Howland; a brother, Michael Smith, of Stow; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann ( McCay) Smith, whom he married on Sept.12, 1953 and who died on May 13,2006; and his daughter, Barbara Ann Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday (Jan. 23) at 11 a.m. at Blackstone Funeral Home, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service and on Friday (Jan. 22) from 5 to 7 p.m. Charles will be laid to rest at Churchill Cemetery next to his wife.
