COLUMBIANA — Josephine T. Richter, 99, formerly of Canfield, passed away early Wednesday (Oct. 28) at Whispering Pines Village.
She was born on Aug. 27, 1921 in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Silvia (DeAscentis) Torquati.
Josephine was a homemaker and had been a registered nurse with North and Southside hospitals with the Youngstown Hospital Association.
She was a 1939 graduate of Chaney High School and graduated from the Youngstown Hospital Association School of Nursing in 1942.
Josephine was a member of Canfield United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed aerobics.
Her husband of 62 years, G. William Richter, Sr., whom she married on July 11, 1951, died on Aug. 7, 2013.
Josephine is survived by her son, Dr. G. William (Lori) Richter, Jr. of Canfield; daughters Rebecca (Robert) Bennett of Columbus and Roben (Mike) Volosin of Charleston, S.C.; her sister, Ida J. Torquati of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine was preceded in death by her brother, Salvatore Torquati.
There will be a memorial service at a later date. The Lane Family Funeral Homes-Canfield Chapel is handling arrangements.
