GIRARD — Marie M. Ross, 92, passed away on Wednesday (Oct. 14).
Marie was born on Feb. 9, 1928 in Niles, the daughter of Rocco and Caroline Ciminero.
She was a 1947 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, then attended art classes at Youngstown State University.
She was employed at JC Penney's in Liberty and Boardman for more than 30 years. Earlier in her career, she was employed at Girard City Schools as an aide with young children to improve their reading skills.
She was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching The Hallmark Channel, going out to dinner with family and friends, and traveling to Canada, Florida, and especially to Europe.
She also held a special place in her heart for the Ursuline Nuns and Oblate Sisters, with whom she enjoyed many happy memories.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Anthony "Buster" Ross, whom she married on June 26, 1953.
She also is survived by sister-in-laws Shirley Ciminero of Niles, Susan (Fred) Coates of Girard, Virgina Zalac of Girard and Stephanie Ross of Girard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mamie "Chuckie" Currie; and brothers Michael "Piccolo" and Joseph "Whiz" Ciminero.
Blackstone Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family request that there be no calling hours and complete privacy. A funeral mass at St. Rose Church will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Ohio Living Hospice. The family would like to send a big thank you to O'Briens Nursing Home and staff, Dr. Ravi and staff, and The Ohio Living Hospice Organization, all of which were especially kind and caring to Marie.
