Petro N. Leftheris

Petro N. Leftheris, 98, of Howland Twp, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born, July 29, 1923, in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania the son of the late Nicholas and Fannie Kouvarakis Leftheris.
A veteran of the United States Army, Petro served his country with the 484 Medical Company during World War II. He served abroad In the European African Middle Eastern Theatre and the United States during the war as a duty soldier and rifleman. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged at Camp Beale, California on December 5, 1945.
Petro was a member of St. Demetrios Hellenic Greek Orthodox Church in Warren, where he was a member of the Senior Citizens, Yassou Club and sang in the choir. He was a former member of AHEPA Zeus #88, Cretan Club and Scope of Niles.
He enjoyed playing guitar, listening to music, and spending time with family.
Petro is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years the former Katherine Michelakis whom he married on September 16, 1951; his children Faye Cosma of Howland; Annie (Ron) Grim of Howland; Nick (Darlene) Leftheris of Palm Harbor, Florida; and Mary Leftheris of Niles; his grandchildren Ronald (Carrie) Grim Jr., Stacy (Clint) Oaks, Mark (Keri) Grim, Michelle (Dave) Weston, and Petro "Nickey" Leftheris; and by seven great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Petro was preceded in death by three brothers Rev. Constantine Leftheris, Leon Leftheris, and Peter Leftheris.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 12, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. in St. Demetrios Hellenic Greek Orthodox Church.
A Funeral Service, with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating, will be offered at 11:00 a.m. in the church with burial to follow in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Petro's name to either St. Demetrios Hellenic Greek Orthodox Church 429 High Street, Warren, Ohio 44481 or to the Philoptochos Society of St. Demetrios Hellenic Greek Orthodox Church.
