5 Valley schools awarded BroadbandOhio Connectivity Grants

COLUMBUS — Five Mahoning Valley school districts have been awarded BroadbandOhio Connectivity Grants.

The money was allocated through the CARES Act to expand high-speed internet access for Ohio students using remote learning during the COVID-19 crisis.

The school districts and grant amounts are:

  • Youngstown, $151,465;
  • Austintown, $141,154;
  • Campbell, $151,466;
  • Struthers, $72,794;
  • Lowellville, $21,811.

“Providing our children with the best education possible during a pandemic has its challenges,” state Rep. Michele Lepore-Hagan, D-Youngstown, said in a news release. “I’m thankful this grant money can be put to use in helping our children succeed at such a critical time in their development.”
