YOUNGSTOWN — The head coach of the East Lady Golden Bears’ basketball team was honored Wednesday (Dec. 18) for her community service.

City Kids Care Inc., an organization that provides community programming aimed at making a positive difference in the lives of children, presented coach Tanisha Franklin with its Making a Difference Award. The presentation came during the Lady Golden Bears home game against Cardinal Mooney.

“It’s an honor to receive a community award because you are recognized by the community you serve,” Franklin said in a news release. “I am a Youngstown City School alumna, so it feels good to be able to give back. I would like to thank my family for their support, my players, my coaching staff, everyone who supports me and [City Kids Care CEO] Brandon Perry for the recognition.”
