MIKE BROWN: Could winds of change be blowing in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference?
Could the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference’s recent announcement that Southeast will officially become a member of the MVAC, starting with the 2024-2025 season, set off a chain reaction for another area sports league?
The Portage Trail Conference consists of Southeast, Rootstown, Mogadore, St. Thomas Aquinas, Warren JFK and Lake Center Christian.
One could only wonder if Southeast’s future departure could set off a chain reaction of PTC teams exploring other league options. When Southeast leaves, the PTC will be down to five members and only four with football programs (Lake Center Christian doesn’t have football).
You don’t see many five-member leagues and one could only win what the PTC’s future will be moving forward.
