MIKE BROWN: South Range, Salem sign two-year football contract

South Range, which won the Division V state football championship last fall, has added the Salem Quakers to their 2024 schedule. The game will be played in Week 2 and it’s a home and home contract.

Salem head coach Ron Johnson told me recently the Salem-South Range game became a possibility when Beaver Local agreed to move its Week II contract with Salem to Week 5, beginning in 2024. That opened the Week 2 slot for Salem and South Range to sign the agreement.

Johnson is excited about the game, which will no doubt attract much area interest. Surprisingly, and despite the fact the two school districts border each other, the Raiders and Quakers have never met in football.
