Which Mahoning Valley prep football team had the most impressive Week 1 win?
There were a lot of impressive Week 1 football wins by Mahoning Valley-area football teams this past weekend but certainly one stood out.
Youngstown Ursuline’s 36-28 win over Steubenville was impressive.
The Irish, who look to be a strong contender in Ohio’s Division III ranks again, showed great balance between the run and passing game in the win over Big Red.
Ursuline quarterback Jack Ericson threw four touchdown passes to lead the Fighting Irish in that game, along with running back Christian Lynch who rushed for 145 yards.
Ursuline and Canfield, who are both in the loaded Division 3 Region 9, should be strong contenders to vie for the title in that simply awesome region.
