‘We are 1-2 and thats the reality:’ Canfield falls 42-14 to Olmsted Falls
Canfield fell to Olmsted Falls Bulldogs Friday night at Bob Dove Field by the score of 42-14.
The defending state champion Cardinals struggled for the second week in a row against top-tier competition.
“We are 1-2 against three playoff teams,” said Cardinals head coach Mike Pavlansky said, “We are 1-2 and that’s the reality. Things won’t change if we don’t get better through practice and the games.”
After Canfield tied the game early on a quarterback scramble by senior quarterback Paul Bindas, Olmsted Falls took the momentum right back with a return for a touchdown on the ensuing kickoff.
Fourth down stop was a turning point for Canfield
The Cardinals were stuffed on fourth down on their own 40 yard line with four minutes to go in the first half.
Two plays later, the Bulldogs are in the end zone again on a 39 yard pass play.
Canfield scored their second and final touchdown of the game with a little over eight minutes to go and the game well out of reach. It was Bindas again on a five yard rush up the middle for the score. The Cardinals did not force a stop on defense until 4:45 to go in the 4th quarter.
Canfield will face their rival Poland next Friday.
