Week 8 brings key conference showdowns in Mahoning Valley high school football

Week 8 of the high school football regular season is slated Friday night with some key league showdowns which could go a long way in eventually determining conference championships.

They include:

South Range at Niles McKinley

A big Northeast 8 game is on tap Friday night when South Range, which is 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the league, travels to 5-2 Niles McKinley. South Range is averaging 32 points-per-game.

Massillon at Austintown Fitch

A key non-league game Friday night will find Austintown Fitch (5-2) hosting the unbeaten Massillon Tigers (7-0) in what is sure to attract a large crowd at Falcon Stadium.

Alliance at West Branch

One of those Friday night games is slated in Beloit when once-beaten West Branch (6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference), will host the 4-3 Alliance Aviators and their University of Oklahoma-bound quarterback Brendan Zurbrugg at Clinton Heacock Stadium.

Jackson-Milton at Lowellville

In the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference, a key league battle is slated Friday night when Lowellville hosts Jackson-Milton in a battle of two talented 6-1 football teams.
