West Branch, Crestview, Boardman top Mahoning Matters’ girls basketball poll
West Branch had another big week to remain No. 1 in the Mahoning Matters Super 7 girls’ basketball poll.
West Branch had a perfect week last week. The Warriors crushed Carrollton 59-23 to win the outright Eastern Buckeye Conference crown and then traveled to the Struthers Fieldhouse last Saturday and rolled to a 65-26 win over Struthers.
West Branch has won six straight games and is scoring 50.5 points-per-game and giving up just 27.5 ppg.
Crestview
The Crestview Rebels maintain their No. 2 ranking in the mahoningmatters.com poll.
The Rebels are a perfect 19-0 on the season and routed Brookfield (60-14) and Newton Falls (55-10) last week.
Crestview is scoring 58.8 points-per-game and allowing just 24 points per outing.
Boardman
The No. 3 Boardman Spartans are on a roll and have won five straight games.
The Spartans are 13-4 and posted an impressive 56-44 win in overtime over Austintown Fitch last Saturday.
The Spartans have recent wins over Howland, Canfield and Fitch.
Howland
The Howland Tigers jumped from No. 5 to No. 4 in the poll following big All-America Conference wins over Warren Harding and Canfield last week.
The Tigers sport a record of 13-4.
Austintown Fitch
Austintown Fitch drops to No. 5 in the poll following its All-American Conference setback to Boardman in overtime last week.
The Falcons have a record of 11-6.
Warren JFK
The Warren JFK Eagles remain at No. 6 in the rankings.
The Eagles are coming off a 56-46 win over St. Thomas Aquinas.
Warren JFK is 12-3 on the season.
Springfield
The Springfield Tigers maintained the No. 7 spot in the poll.
The Tigers won two games last week over Lowellville (47-25) and Sebring (42-15).
The Tigers have compiled a record of 13-5 and have won two straight games.
