Warren Champion High School boys’ bowling team, led by Coach Josh Phelps, finished third in the state tournament at HPLanes in Columbus on March 1.

The team did well in the first part of the day and advanced to the finals in the afternoon as the seventh seed (out of the top 8 teams) but lost a heartbreaker in the semifinal round in a best-out-of-five Baker match elimination format to eventual state champion Marion-Pleasant.

Champion’s starting five bowlers included one senior (Alan Derry), two juniors (Garrett Martin and Aidan LePosa), and two sophomores (Mario Humenik and Derrick Campbell).
