Former MLB player stepping in to manage Mahoning Valley Scrappers for 2024
A former outfielder in Major League Baseball is taking all his experience into his role as the newest manager of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
Quinton McCracken is this year’s manager of the Scrappers MLB Draft League.
“I’m looking forward to working with and being of service to the next generation of MLB prospects this summer as we assist in their development paths both on and off the field,” McCracken said.
999 MLB games
McCracken has twelve years of experience in the outfield in the MLB, starting in 1992 with the Colorado Rockies.
He has a career .274 batting average with 21 home runs and 89 stolen bases.
He retired as an outfielder with the Cincinnati Reds in 2007, seeing the most action in center field.
Overall, McCracken played in 999 MLB games; throughout his career into the mid-2000s, he was picked up by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Minnesota Twins, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Reds.
The Scrappers are set to open the 2024 season at Eastwood Field June 7 against the Frederick Keys in Niles.
