South Range, West Branch, Poland lead Super 7 Mahoning Valley baseball poll
There’s a new No. 1 team in the Mahoning Matters Super 7 high school baseball poll.
South Range
The South Range Raiders take over the No. 1 spot this weekend after knocking off previous No. 1 West Branch 14-12 in eight innings in a game played Saturday on the artificial surface at Minerva High School.
The Raiders are 7-1 on the season and have won four games in a row.
West Branch
Despite losing its first game of the season, West Branch, ranked No. 4 in the Ohio Baseball Coaches Association Division II Poll, had a big week which included a pair of wins of Eastern Buckeye Conference rival Marlington, which is ranked fifth in state in the Ohio Baseball Coaches Association Division II poll.
West Branch is 10-1 on the season and has shut out six of its opponents.
Poland
Poland is No. 3 in this week’s poll.
The Bulldogs are 4-0 on the season and have shut out three of their opponents.
The Bulldogs are averaging over 12 runs per game.
LaBrae
The LaBrae Vikings are ranked No. 4 in this week’s poll.
The Vikings sport a 4-1 ledger and have blanked three of their foes.
Howland
The Howland Tigers are rated No. 5.
The Tigers’ only loss has been to West Branch which is ranked second in the poll.
The Tigers are coming off a 10-0 win over Heartland Christian.
Crestview
The Crestview Rebels hold down the No. 6 spot in the poll.
The Rebels are 6-0 on the campaign and have outscored their opponents, 73-7.
Mineral Ridge
The Mineral Ridge Rams are rated No. 7 in the poll.
The Rams are 4-1 and have outscored their last four opponents, 48-1.
