Canfield, Austintown Fitch and Warren Champion top Super 7 softball rankings
The terrific trio of Canfield, Austintown Fitch and Warren Champion lead this week’s Mahoning Matters Super 7 softball poll.
Canfield
Canfield is the new No. 1 in the poll and has split games with former No. 1-ranked Fitch, losing 5-0 at Fitch in its season opener but handing the Falcons their only loss, 2-1 last week on the Cardinals’ home turf.
Canfield is 8-1 on the season and has outscored its opponents, 74-8.
Austintown Fitch
Defending Division I state champion Austintown Fitch is No. 2 in this week’s rankings.
The Falcons are 6-1 on the season and are coming off a 10-0 win over the Brunswick Blue Devils.
Fitch has outscored its opponents, 73-2. They lost earlier in the week to No. 1 Canfield, 2-1.
Warren Champion
Division III power Warren Champion is No. 3 again this week in the mahoningmatters.com rankings.
The Golden Flashes have compiled a 6-0 record and are coming off a 4-1 triumph over the Federal League’s Perry Panthers.
Champion has outscored its opponents, 70-8.
Mathews
The Mathews Mustangs hold down the No. 4 spot in the rankings.
The Mustangs have rolled up an 8-1 record and have not lost to an Ohio team.
They have outscored their opponents, 66-20.
Howland
The Howland Tigers are No. 5 in the ratings.
The Tigers are 5-1 on the season and they have won four games in a row.
West Branch
West Branch is No. 6 in the rankings.
The Warriors (6-1) have won five games in a row and outscored their opponents 36-5 during that stretch.
Columbiana
The Columbiana Clippers are No. 7 in the rankings.
The Clippers are 6-2 on the campaign and are coming off a 15-1 romp over the Akron Springfield Spartans.
