Fitch keeps No. 1 spot in Mahoning Matters Super 7 softball rankings
The defending Division I state champion Austintown Fitch Falcons remain the No. 1 team in this week’s Mahoning Matters Super 7 poll.
Austintown Fitch
Fitch had another big week on the diamond as the Falcons improved to 15-1 with two wins over Howland and a triumph over the Mentor Cardinals. In those three wins, they outscored their opponents, 41-1.
Canfield
Canfield retains its position as the No. 2-ranked team in the poll.
The Cardinals (18-3) had an undefeated week as they swept Warren Harding and closed out the week with an 11-7 win over arch-rival Poland in eight innings.
Warren Champion
Warren Champion, one of the top D3 teams in Ohio, remains at No. 3 in the poll.
The Golden Flashes improved to 17-3 on the campaign and have won six games in a row.
Champion defeated LaBrae, Lakeview and Campbell Memorial twice last week while outscoring those four teams, 41-1.
South Range
South Range just keeps on winning and remains No. 4 in the poll.
The Raiders are 17-1 on the season and have won 11 consecutive games.
Last week, the Raiders defeated Struthers and Poland by a combined score of 32-8.
Columbiana
Columbiana moves up to No. 5 in this week’s rankings.
The Clippers are 22-3 and have won 12 straight games.
In their most recent contest, the Clippers defeated United 13-6.
Howland
Howland is No. 6 in this week’s poll.
The Tigers are 12-7 on the season.
Howland pounded the Rootstown Rovers 10-0 in their most recent game.
Mathews
Mathews remains the No. 7 team in the mahoningmatters.com Super 7 poll.
The Mustangs are 18-6 on the campaign and have won three straight games with wins over Akron Hoban, Badger and Lordstown, outscoring those three opponents, 38-3.
