South Range powers past South Webster, 11-4, to make state final
South Range’s powerful offense is one game away from the school’s first state softball championship.
The Raiders posted 19 hits, nearly half for extra bases in a 11-4 win Thursday night over the South Webster in a state semifinal game at Firestone Park in Akron.
South Range took an early lead with an RBI single in the first by Giada Pauline and added two more runs in the third inning on an error and a run-scoring single by Ashley Rupert.
South Webster responded in the third on a RBI double by Jaiden White and a two-run double by Isabella Claxton.
South Range broke open the game in the fifth inning with two outs.
The Raiders recorded five consecutive hits, including RBI doubles by Solena DeJesus, and Heidi Bartels, a RBI single by Wardle and a two-run single by Pauline.
South Webster responded in the fifth with an RBI double by Isabella Claxton.
South Range added an insurance run in the sixrh inning on a run-scoring double by Rupert.
South Range will play for the school’s first championship Saturday against Liberty-Union, who defeated Oak Harbor 6-1 earlier in the day,
The Raiders were state runners up in 2016 and 2021 and made the state final four last season.
