Longtime Cleveland Guardians broadcaster to leave role for Las Vegas gig
Jensen Lewis, who has been a regular part of Cleveland’s TV baseball broadcasts for more than a decade, has been hired by the Vegas Stats and Information Network (VSiN) in Las Vegas.
Lewis and Al Palowski have been fixtures at Progressive Field for years on the pre- and post-game shows. Now, Palowski will have other co-hosts – like Pat Tabler, Ellis Burks and Chris Gimenez -- for the upcoming baseball season since Lewis, a former Indians reliever, now will be talking more football and basketball to handicap games for bettors.
“I’ll be the co-host on their (betting) show during the week,” Lewis told a local reporter. “I’ll be doing all sports - this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up, and I’m really excited about it.”
Lewis also works for the MLB radio network and ESPN on college baseball coverage, roles he will maintain.
Meanwhile, the Guardians will move forward with a new television package since its deal with the former Diamond Sports Group fell apart during the bankruptcy of the company now known as Main Street Sports Group.
Guardians team officials are meeting with MLB in the next week or so to finalize plans for local television coverage. Game broadcasters Matt Underwood, Rick Manning and Andre Knott will return for the 2025 Guardians campaign.
Guardians pitchers and catchers will report Feb. 11 for spring training in Goodyear, Arizona.
