Basketball coach Jesse Hardin, Jr. said Carey-Hardin coming from having no varsity experience until his junior year to having a breakout senior year speaks volumes to his dedication to the game.

“I’m extremely proud of his consistency and leadership role he took on for the team. Our team faced a lot of adversity this season and True showed perseverance on and off the court time after time,” he said. “This award is a testament to the closeness in our Niles community, schools, teachers, administration, coaches, and our family. They all came together to support True and show him that he’s deserving of this recognition.”

Carey-Hardin, a senior guard, averaged 15 points per game, five rebounds per game, and one assist per game.

“We thank everyone for this honor,” Hardin said.
