With no area teams moving on to the OHSAA state tournament, the final mahoningmatters.com Super 7 girls basketball poll features several teams that still enjoyed excellent seasons. Here’s a look at the rankings:

Canfield

Traditional power Canfield finished No. 1 in the final rankings.

The Cardinals won another All-American Conference crown this winter.

The Cardinals were a Division IV regional qualifier where they were eliminated in a 51-45 loss to the Streetsboro Rockets. Streetsboro then lost in the regional finish to Shaker Heights Laurel which advanced to the state tournament for a second consecutive season.

Canfield finished its season with a final record of 23-3.

West Branch

West Branch finished second in the final rankings.

The Warriors posted a record of 22-3 this season with one of its losses coming to No. 1-ranked Canfield.

West Branch won a second consecutive Eastern Buckeye Conference crown this winter under highly-successful head coach Walt DeShields.

Warren JFK

Warren JFK earned the No. 3 spot in the season-ending rankings.

The Eagles were a Division VII regional qualifier before bowing out in a tournament loss to Danbury Lakeside.

The Eagles, who played a strong schedule, ended the year with a record of 17-7.

Crestview

Crestview is No. 4 in the final ratings.

The Rebels featured a high-powered offense again this season and advanced to the Division V district where they were eliminated in a tough overtime loss to the Canton South Wildcats.

Crestview concluded its campaign with a final ledger of 21-4.

Western Reserve

Western Reserve, which was a Division VII regional qualifier, is No. 5 in the ratings.

The Blue Devils, who were one of many powerful teams in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference, advanced to the small-school regional where they saw their season conclude in a setback to the Mogadore Wildcats. Mogadore won two regional games and went on to advance to last week’s state Final 4.

Western Reserve finished its season with a record of 18-7.

Columbiana

Columbiana, which led the area in fewest points allowed at just over 20 points-per-game, ends No. 6 in the rankings.

The Clippers rolled to the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference crown this winter while finishing with a perfect league record.

Columbiana was upended by the Waynedale Golden Bears in a Division VI sectional tournament game, finishing its season with a 22-1 record.

Warren Harding

Earning the No. 7 and final spot in the mahoningmatters.com Super 7 poll, is Warren Harding.

Harding, which posted several impressive regular-season wins, saw its season conclude in a tourney setback to Twinsburg.

The Raiders finished with a final record of 15-9.
