Records galore

Emmaus celebrated senior night late last month against Allen with two seniors breaking school records. Kayleen Louis smashed the record by a foot in shot put with a monster throw of 37 feet, 8 inches. Mady McCartney broke her own 3,200-meter record with a 10:28.96.

Saucon Valley’s Gaddiel Bido Huertas broke the school record multiple times in 300 hurdles. He ran a 39.24 late last month after setting the mark a week earlier with a time of 40.29.

The previous record (40.80) was set in 1987 by Dave Oren, then tied in 1990 by Mark Karabin.

Lozada broke a 37-year school record at Salisbury in the pole vault. The returning state 2A medalist cleared 14 feet, 11 inches to break Matt Foust’s former record of 14-10.5 from 1989. Lozada’s effort is tops this season in 2A in the state. He also cleared 45-9 in the triple jump and 22-0.25 in the long jump.

Congrats, Parkland and Northampton

The two programs hosted a combined three sub-varsity meets this season with nearly 1,000 athletes and 1,700 results posted. Great for those kids and coaches who dedicated their time and resources.
