Dusty May is reportedly garnering NBA interest after steering Michigan to a men's national title.

Alex Schiffer of Front Office Sports said two NBA teams are intrigued by May. FOS was among multiple outlets to report the Orlando Magic's interest in May after firing head coach Jamahl Mosley on Monday.

Schiffer added that May could also emerge as an option for the Golden State Warriors if Steve Kerr doesn't return. The four-time NBA champion met with owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy on Monday.

May reportedly agreed to a long-term contract extension shortly after cutting down the nets last month. The Wolverines, who won eight games in 2023-24 before his arrival, completed a monumental turnaround by going 37-3 in May's second season.

He's yet to officially sign the new deal, but May insisted it's only a matter of time.

"We've agreed to the broad terms," May told FOS last week. "I think I signed-we announced at the Michigan State game last year and I‘m signing it in July just because there's i's to dot and t's to cross. To me, it's a formality."

May has spent 21 years coaching college basketball. While jumping to the NBA has crossed his mind during his career, he's not mapping out any move.

"I mean, obviously we all think about that as younger coaches," May said. "But no it's not something … our full attention has been on building this roster and plans of hopefully competing for a championship again next year."

Magic and Warriors face pivotal offseason

The Magic were one win away from upsetting the top-seeded Detroit Pistons and advancing past the opening round for the first time since 2010. They're instead seeking a new head coach after squandering a 3-1 series lead.

Whoever replaces Mosley would inherit an intriguing young roster headlined by Pablo Banchero. Schiffer reported that another national champion, Billy Donovan, is interested in a job he accepted 19 years ago before quickly stepping down.

Meanwhile, the Warriors posted a losing record for the second time in Kerr's 12-season tenure. Their championship window behind a 38-year-old Stephen Curry and 36-year-old Draymond Green may be shut after a play-in tournament elimination.
