Jaylen Brown Breaks Silence on Celtics Future Amid Growing Trade Rumors
The noise around the Boston Celtics and Jaylen Brown hit a boiling point after one of the most disappointing (and surprising) NBA playoff collapses in recent memory.
Boston finished the 2025-26 regular season with 56 wins despite not having franchise star Jayson Tatum for most of the year, and still entered the postseason believing another Finals run was realistic.
Instead, the Celtics blew a 3-1 series lead to the rival Philadelphia 76ers and were eliminated in Game 7 at home, a loss that immediately triggered questions about the future of the franchise core.
Those questions only intensified after Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady claimed Brown was "deeply frustrated" with the organization and potentially unhappy with his role and long-term future in Boston.
Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens publicly pushed back, saying Brown had not expressed any dissatisfaction directly to him, but the rumors took on a life of their own in NBA circles.
Now, Brown himself appears to have slammed the door on the speculation.
During a Twitch stream on Wednesday, Brown addressed the rumors head-on and delivered the clearest public statement yet about where he wants to be.
"I hate that our president of basketball operations had to even respond to this,” Brown said. “Me and Brad have a great relationship. I love Boston, if it was up to me, I would play in Boston for the next 10 years.”

Brown just completed arguably the best season of his career.
The 29-year-old averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists (all career-highs) while carrying Boston offensively for much of the season with Tatum unavailable.
He earned his fifth All-Star selection, his first All-Star starting nod, and continued evolving from elite scorer into a complete offensive engine.
Simply put, this is not a player Boston is looking to dump. This is one of the most accomplished two-way wings in basketball. He’s somebody who won the 2024 NBA Finals MVP, captured an NBA championship, and has helped Boston remain a perennial contender for nearly a decade.
Boston spent years trying to build sustainable championship contention through drafting and development instead of chasing superstar free agents, and Brown became one of the clearest examples of how that blueprint can pay off.

Boston still has roster questions, and rival executives would absolutely call if Brown became available.
But now both the president of the team and the player himself have made it clear what they want.
The rumors aren’t going to slow down, but it doesn’t look like Brown is going anywhere anytime soon.
