Nick Wright Suggests Third Team in Potential Jaylen Brown Trade for Giannis

After recent postseason remarks and rumors involving Jaylen Brown, there is growing chatter that his time with the Boston Celtics could be coming to an end.

The primary belief is that the Celtics could send the five-time All-Star to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for former NBA MVP and one-time champion Giannis Antetokounmpo, the most coveted superstar this offseason.

Most of the speculation centers on a straight-up deal with Brown for the Greek Freak, but other teams may be getting involved, according to FS1’s Nick Wright, as they would send other players to the Bucks to help out and gain Brown as their top star.

Wright, speaking on his “What’s Wright? With Nick Wright” podcast, suggested that the Atlanta Hawks could be a third team that facilitates this deal, and would trade two of their players to the Bucks.

“I think a Jaylen Brown trade is very on the board. No picks. No extra players. One-for-one, Jaylen Brown for Giannis,” Wright said on his podcast, before suggesting another potential trade.

“Jaylen Brown to Atlanta. He would be a perfect fit, and they’d be really good. Atlanta sends Dyson Daniels, [Zaccharie] Risacher, a bunch of picks to Milwaukee, and then Giannis to Boston,” he said.

The 6-foot-8 Risacher is a former No. 1 pick for the Hawks, and at 21 hasn’t quite lived up to any hype yet, but maybe he needs a new environment to blossom in. Daniels joined the league as a rookie with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2022 and achieved career-high averages in points, rebounds, and assists in his past two seasons with the Hawks.

That would likely put the Bucks in rebuild mode with their new players, and would help the Hawks and Celtics remain contenders in the Eastern Conference. It would also create some intriguing matchups for Brown against his former Celtics teammates in Atlanta.

Boston has always been an organization committed to building powerhouse squads to win NBA championships, including the “Big Three” they created by bringing Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to the roster with Paul Pierce. That resulted in a championship for all three players, with Doc Rivers as the head coach.

They had a stellar squad with Brown and Tatum several seasons ago, which also resulted in a championship. Brown was the Finals MVP, but now it appears he could be interested in being the top star on another team.

He recently made comments on his live stream suggesting that this past season was his “favorite year” on the Celtics. That’s telling, considering he previously won an NBA championship and Finals MVP. In contrast, this year, Tatum was missing for all but 16 games, and Boston exited the playoffs in the first round.
