NBA Announces LeBron James History With Lakers Playoff Game

LeBron James continues to make history with every season and postseason game he participates in, including this year’s Los Angeles Lakers playoff run.

King James helped the Lakers push past the younger Rockets, 4-2 in the first round, as Houston was without superstar Kevin Durant for most of the series.

However, they drew a much tougher opponent for the second round: the NBA MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

While the Lakers suffered a disappointing double-digit opening-game loss at OKC several nights ago, they returned to the court with a better effort in Game 2.

And with LeBron stepping foot on the hardwood to start the game with his teammates, he achieved a unique milestone that no NBA player has before: participating in his 300th postseason game.

“Congrats to @KingJames of the @Lakers on becoming the first player with 300 GAMES PLAYED in the NBA Playoffs presented by @Google!” the NBA wrote in their X post on Thursday night.

There are other former Lakers greats on the list, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who is fifth with 237 games, and the late, great Kobe Bryant, who is seventh with 220 career playoff games.

That milestone underscores the impressive longevity of the legendary LeBron James, who completed his 23rd season this year with the Lakers.

He has appeared in multiple NBA Finals during his postseason runs with the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Los Angeles Lakers, winning four championships with those three teams between 2012 and 2020.

His latest playoff appearance has been particularly impressive due to the challenge of having to play games in the first round with his teammates, Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic, both out due to injuries.

The two players suffered season-ending injuries against OKC in early April, with Reaves returning from his oblique injury for part of the Houston Rockets series.

The Lakers don’t expect Luka back for this second-round series against the Thunder, which will make things extremely difficult for LeBron and his teammates to advance.

However, as of this writing, the Lakers held a slim 58-57 lead at halftime over the defending champs, bringing a better game plan for their second game of the series.
