BCIAA baseball playoffs: Exeter advances to the semifinals

Liam Porter allowed just one run over six innings and Brandon Weller knocked in two runs as Exeter defeated Berks Catholic 7-5 in the quarterfinals of the BCIAA baseball playoffs on Thursday at Muhlenberg High School.

The Eagles (15-6) advanced to Friday's semifinals but not before some seventh-inning drama.

Exeter led 7-1 entering the top of the seventh, but the Saints plated four runs and had no outs before Exeter's Matt Goodheart got the last three outs, striking out one and allowing just one hit.

Goodheart was also 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

The Eagles will play the winner of Wilson-Kutztown on Friday for the right to play for the championship Monday at FirstEnergy Field in Reading.
