Jeremiyah Love Already Knows What He'll Do With NFL Rookie Contract
Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love is already one step ahead of things.
The Cardinals shocked plenty of fans when they selected Love with the No. 3 pick in this year's draft. While there's no denying his talent, Arizona's roster had more pressing needs this offseason. For that reason alone, there's a ton of pressure on him to shine as a rookie.
"I'm going to make sure that I do right by them and do right by myself because, at the end of the day, I want to do the best that I can," Love said, via ESPN. "I hold myself to a certain standard. So, I'm coming into this league ready to compete, ready to dominate and, shoot, do what I got to do to make this organization look good and make myself look good. So, I take their trust in me very seriously and I'm going to make sure I give them return on their investment."
Since he was selected in the top three of this year's draft, Love will make $53.9 million from his rookie deal. However, he doesn't plan on spending any of that money.
"I live in the era of NIL, so I'm pretty well off already," Love told reporters, via Griffin S. DeMarrais of KTVK 3TV. "I really don't need to touch that money, as of right now. I most definitely will not."
Love might be a rookie, but that's a veteran answer right there.
Expectations for Jeremiyah Love are quite high.
Love had an exceptional career at Notre Dame, rushing for 2,882 yards and 36 touchdowns on 433 carries. He also improved his skills as a receiver every season, hauling in 63 passes for 594 yards and six scores.
If Arizona's offensive line wins the battle at the line of scrimmage, there's a good chance Love will thrive this fall.
As of now, Love is the odds-on favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. He's got a slight edge over Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
