Philadelphia Eagles 2026 Training Camp Position Battle to Watch

NFL teams have wrapped up their respective organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamps, and after a near month-long break, they'll pick things back up near the end of July for training camp.

The first preseason game takes place on Thursday, Aug. 6 on NBC when the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals face off in the Hall of Fame Game. The rest of the preseason's first week will take place from Aug. 13-15, followed by Week 2 on Aug. 20-23, and Week 3 on Aug. 27-29.

But before the preseason gets underway, teams must first report to training camp. The Philadelphia Eagles will report to camp on July 28, and below is their biggest position battle to watch this summer.

Position Battle: WR2 | Makai Lemon vs. Dontayvion Wicks vs. Marquise Brown vs. Elijah Moore

After months of back and forth, the Eagles finally purged their roster of A.J. Brown, sending him to the New England Patriots to reunite with former head coach Mike Vrabel, leaving DeVonta Smith as the team's new WR1.

Smith put up great numbers opposite Brown for the last four seasons, racking up 321 catches, 4,103 yards, and 26 touchdowns during that span. And without Brown, most expect him to put up even bigger numbers.

But who will be the new Robin to Smith's Batman? The consensus seems to be Makai Lemon right now, but we're weeks away from camp, and the answer to that question could change daily.

Lemon, who won the Biletnikoff award last year as the top WR in college football, caught 79 passes for 1,156 yards, and 11 touchdowns for the Trojans last season. He's a big-play threat anytime he steps on the field, and his playmaking ability is exactly what could help offset the loss of Brown.

Conversely, Dontayvion Wicks, Marquise Brown, and Elijah Moore all won't give up their spot without a fight.

Wicks is two years removed from his career-best season (39 receptions, 581 yards, four TDs), and he was buried on the depth chart in Green Bay. The change of scenery in Philadelphia could do wonders for him.

Brown was solid for Kansas City last year (49 catches, 587 yards, five TDs), and Moore is one year removed from back-to-back seasons with at least 59 catches and 538 yards. They should make the camp competition interesting.
