You’ll still have to wear a mask in Giant Eagle, even after June 2
Even after Ohio's heath orders expire June 2, you'll still have to wear a mask in Giant Eagle grocery stores.
Following Gov. Mike DeWine's Wednesday announcement that health orders would be lifted June 2 — including requirements on mask-wearing, social distancing and capacity limits — the grocery chain issued a statement:
"At Giant Eagle, the health and well-being of our team members and guests remains our top priority. As we actively evaluate the shifts in state and CDC guidance, we will continue to require anyone working or shopping in our stores to wear a mask or face covering," reads the statement from spokesperson spokesperson Jannah Jablonowski.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the grocery chain instituted several safety measures like one-way grocery aisles and occupancy limits and required workers to wear PPE and sanitize stations and shopping carts.
The chain has stores in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana.
