Youngstown police officers implemented speed cameras to take photos and issue citations starting Thursday when drivers are going too fast in school zones.

The cameras will start fining drivers Thursday for traveling above the posted 20 miles-per-hour speed limit in school zones.

After Thursday, the 30-day warning grace period that’s been in effect ends and drivers caught speeding in the four new school zones will receive a violation in the mail.

The ticket will be between $100 and $150 depending on the speed of the driver above what’s posted.
