Local baseball coaches are teaming up to support a family in need in their community.

LaBrae High School Vikings are set to play at 4:30 p.m. April 21 against Jackson-Milton High School Blue Jays at Eastwood Field in Niles.

During the game, the high school teams and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers are raising funds for the Hemberger family who live in Leavittsburg.

Brenton Hemberger was 13 years old when he was killed April 1 when a tree fell on his home during a storm.

How funds will be raised for Brenton Hemberger’s family

There will be donation bins at the Eastwood Field gate, a 50/50 raffle, and Scrappers discount cards for $25 with a value of $620.

All donations at the game and online will go to the family.

Chris Simpson from LaBrae posted about the event and helped spread the word.

“We all just wanted to help the family,” Simpson said. “Come out and enjoy a day of baseball and help support this family in their time of need.”
