Election results 2023: Girard mayor loses primary

Trumbull County: Girard’s new mayor

According to the Trumbull County board of elections, the voters have selected a replacement for the current mayor of Girard.

In the primary special election, Mark Zuppo received more votes than incumbent James Melfi, who has been the mayor of Girard for over 20 years.

Zuppo has been the Girard city treasurer, a leader in the school board of education, youth sports coach and community advocate.

According to the unofficial poll results, after the ballots were counted, Zuppo received 53.73% of the votes, while Melfi received 46.27%.
