Meet founder of woman-owned DJ company in Youngstown honoring father’s memory
Meet Michela Bocchine, owner and operator of Emcee2 DJ Services in Youngstown.
In 2022, a shared dream of owning a DJ company became a reality for Bocchine in honor of her father.
“My dad, John, was supposed to be the original DJ to this endeavor,” she said. “My Dad was a lover of all things music, DMX lighting, laser shows, and more. He was the Dad who always had the top-of-the-line equipment, and our house parties were top-notch.
Bocchine said she grew up listening to cassettes, vinyl records and CDs.
John Thomas died Sept. 5 of 2022, and Bocchine received his collection of music equipment.
“When he started having health complications, he had to put his love of music on hold. Before he passed away, he would ask me to find records of play songs for him,” she said. “I sifted through everything he owned, and decided that I’d make our dream of having a DJ company a reality.”
In the fall of 2022, she started offering small house parties and backyard DIY weddings.
“Word of mouth kind of got out, and now a few years later, I’m experiencing a full blown wedding and party schedule,” she said. “I am not only the owner of Emcee2 DJ Services, but I am also a DJ assistant at DNCE Group here in Boardman, where I have the opportunity to work with a group of professional Radio and Mobile DJs.”
What does Emcee2 DJ Services do in Youngstown?
At Emcee2 DJ Services, Bocchine focuses on getting to know her clients before an event and keeping prices affordable.
“I am a solo operator, and do this line of work in honor of my Dad. My Dad always told me that my DJ work is all about listening, and having others be heard through the love of music,” she said.
Emcee2 DJ Services offers discounted services and event planning for Mahoning Valley residents who are in need.
Bocchine has provided music for private events as well as The Mercer County Food Bank, Blackwater Cabaret in Cleveland, City of Niles and the Resource Mothers Center of Youngstown MercyHealth.
