“High scores, happy memories.” Girard arcade celebrates two years of business

Back in 2023, Rob Berk first unveiled his record-breaking collection of pinball games on North State Street in Girard that’s become a favorite attraction for the entire Mahoning Valley community.

Now he’s inviting the community to come play pinball and grab a Birthday Cake Milkshake throughout the month June of to celebrate the two-year anniversary of Past Times Arcade.

“On behalf of myself, my wife Brigitt, and our entire family, we’re feeling incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped make our arcade what it is today—a vibrant, fun-filled space for all ages,” Berk said.

Coming up, the owner said they’re working on renovating the restrooms inside the arcade.

At the arcade, guests pay a fee at the door and can access over 400 pinball and arcade games switched onto free-play mode from as early as 1931.

“Whether you stopped in for a quick game, booked a birthday party or just came to relive some nostalgic fun, your support has powered us forward,” Berk said.

Register to compete in Past Times Arcade’s two upcoming tournaments: the 4-Strikes Knockout Tournament on June 13 and the monthly classic tournament on June 15.

“We opened our doors with a mission to bring joy, games, and community together, and thanks to you, we’ve been able to do just that for two amazing years,” Berk said. “From high scores to happy memories, every moment has meant the world to us.”

Later in June, Past Times Arcade is also collaborating once again with Sweet Memories for a one-weekend Trumbull County Collect and Connect magnet giveaway, only on June 20 through June 22.

With eligible purchases at first Sweet Memories Vintage Tees & Candy then admission at the arcade, customers will get two magnets.

Once you’ve gotten your magnets, post a picture on social media and tag both businesses to be entered to win a $200 mega prize bundle including gift cards, shirts and surprises from both shops.

The winner will be announced on June 23.

As part of the two-year anniversary celebration, pinball designer Jim Patla visited Past Times Arcade on May 31 for a meet-and-greet and autograph signing.

Since the early 1980’s, Patla has designed over 40 pinball machines, including the Centaur, KISS and Rolling Stones games.

In September of 2023, Lydia Tarleton helped the Berk family and staff at Past Times Arcade make their mark on the community by painting a mural.

During the one-year anniversary in 2024, Berk received a Guinness Book of World Records plaque showing he has the largest collection of pinball machines in the world.

Past Times Arcade is open from 4 – 9 p.m. on Thursday, 4 – 11 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Sunday at 419 North State St. in Girard.
