Drive-up coronavirus testing moving to Austintown
AUSTINTOWN — QUICKmed Urgent Care's drive-up coronavirus testing is coming to Austintown Fitch High School, 4560 Falcon Drive.
The remote clinic will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The clinic was moved from Campbell's Roosevelt Park, which last week tested about 500 people for the new coronavirus, said Lena Esmail, nurse practitioner and CEO at QUICKmed Urgent Care.
About one-fifth of the tests performed on symptomatic patients came back positive, she said.
She expects the Austintown clinic will end up testing about the same volume, though she noted many people from outside Campbell visited last week's clinic.
Another about 1,000 people were pre-screened during last week's clinic in Campbell to determine whether testing was necessary, she said.
Pre-registration and telehealth screening is mandatory, as medical workers continue to conserve tests for those at greatest risk from the disease, Esmail said.
To pre-register, visit QUICKmeduc.video-visits.com or call 724-734-5235. Patients will be screened to see if they meet the requirements for testing.
According to the above map provided by Austintown Police Department, those who have pre-registered should approach the clinic by:
- Turning onto Falcon Drive from South Raccoon Road, near the Austintown Library
- Continuing to the four-way stop at the intersection of Lloyd and Lynnkirk loops
- Then waiting in front of the transportation building
Vehicles are expected to exit the testing area onto Idaho Road. Lloyd and Lynnkirk loops will be closed to all vehicle traffic.
Residents who believe they're developing symptoms of COVID-19, which include dry cough, sore throat, fever and shortness of breath, can also get tested at QUICKmed's 3499 Belmont Ave. location in Liberty Township, Esmail said.
The service at QUICKmed also doesn't require visitors to leave their vehicles, she said.
