Vanderhoff to lead Ohio Department of Health
COLUMBUS — The Ohio Department of Health's chief medical officer is now preparing to helm the department.
Gov. Mike DeWine has named Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, his chief medical advisor, as director of the department, according to a Wednesday release from the governor's office.
Vanderhoff is set to start the job Monday. He takes over for Director Stephanie McCloud, the former administrator of the state Bureau of Workers' Compensation, who was tapped to lead the department following former director Dr. Amy Acton's resignation in June 2020. McCloud will return to her former role as bureau administrator, officials said.
Both positions require confirmation from the state senate.
"Working together as a team, Stephanie McCloud and Bruce Vanderhoff guided the Ohio Department of Health over the past nine months," DeWine is quoted in the release. "I am pleased that Dr. Vanderhoff has agreed to serve as director of the Ohio Department of Health. His medical and organizational expertise will help the department as we move forward and continue to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic."
